Just a quick update on what we are working on in music class right now:

K – We are exploring new instruments each week.  We also just started practicing how to recognize high and low pitches.

 

1 –  This week we learned that “rhythm” is a combination of long and short sounds, which is different than a beat.

 

2 – We have been learning to read and perform single 8th notes, our newest rhythm note.

 

3 – We used the whole note and whole rest, which we learned last week, to perform a Halloween piece using rhythm note reading.

 

4 – We are working on improvising rhythm patterns as well as melody patterns.

 

5 – We finished our storybook musical projects and performed them for the kindergarten book buddies!
